SAP HANA is SAP’s Real-time Data Platform. With a powerful in-memory database at its core, SAP HANA plays a key role in SAP’s current strategy. Besides being “just” a database with outstanding performance for analyzing massive amounts of data, SAP HANA provides additional capabilities for full-text search, text analysis, data mining and predictive analysis, (geo-)spatial data, and for running application services within the database. These capabilities are accompanied by a rich set of modeling tools and programing models – for data-oriented logic, procedural application logic, and client-side UI rendering. We will cover the most important use cases for SAP HANA today and the programming models used to address these.
